This one is in production at our manufacturer right now, and I put the page up early so you can read the research before you spend a dollar on it. The cart button turns on the day it lands in our warehouse, and the price gets posted with it.
Every cell you own makes energy, and making energy throws off free radicals, unstable molecules missing an electron that steal one from your cell membranes and your DNA to settle themselves down. Glutathione is the molecule that hands them an electron so they stop stealing, and it is the same molecule your liver uses to bind toxins and the one that recharges your vitamin C and vitamin E after they are spent. You make less of it every year, and when researchers went looking for why, the enzymes that build it were still working fine. The shortage was in the raw materials, cysteine and glycine. NAC is the cysteine, in a form you can swallow. This capsule is 600 mg of N-Acetyl L-Cysteine and nothing else, the dose the 468-man fertility trial used once a day and the 262-person immune trial used twice a day, and I spent a full video in June 2026 explaining why I would rather hand your cells the raw material than try to force the finished glutathione past your gut. The studies are linked so you can check me.
Normal metabolism makes free radicals all day, and you make more of them when you train hard or get sick, more again when you drink, and more every year you get older. Glutathione is a small three-piece protein your cells build on the spot, and when it meets a free radical it donates the electron, gets oxidized in the process, and an enzyme resets it so it can go again. A healthy cell keeps almost all of its glutathione in the active form, and when that balance slides toward the oxidized side, that cell is under oxidative stress. Cysteine is the piece that runs short, and the enzyme that joins it to the other two is the step that sets the pace, which is why the whole supply hangs on how much cysteine you have on hand.
Neutralizing free radicals is only the first job. Your liver uses glutathione to bind toxins and drug byproducts so they can leave in bile and urine, and when you process acetaminophen the byproduct it leaves behind is what glutathione neutralizes, which is why NAC is the hospital treatment for an overdose of it. It also recharges vitamin C and vitamin E after they have given up their electron, so it sits at the bottom of your entire antioxidant chain, and your immune cells need it on hand to do their work.

In 169 healthy adults between 20 and 94, blood glutathione in the 60 to 79 group ran 17 percent lower than in the 20 to 39 group, in people who were walking around fine and free of diabetes and cancer. Then a Baylor group measured why. Eight people in their 60s and 70s against eight younger adults: red cell glutathione was 1.12 against 2.08, which is 46 percent lower, the rate they were building it at was about a third of the young group, and both cysteine and glycine were lower in their blood. Then they gave the older group cysteine and glycine for two weeks, and glutathione came up 94.6 percent, the build rate more than tripled, and their oxidative stress markers fell to where the young group sat. The enzymes that build glutathione were working the whole time. They had run out of parts, and that is the entire reason a precursor is on this label instead of glutathione.

In 1992 seven volunteers swallowed a 3 gram dose of glutathione and had their blood drawn for the next four and a half hours, and nothing moved, because enzymes in the gut wall and the liver cut the three-piece molecule apart before it gets anywhere. For twenty years that settled it. Then a six-month trial in 54 adults at 1,000 mg a day found blood glutathione up 30 to 35 percent, and back to baseline within a month of stopping. My read, and it is a read, is that the gut broke it into its three amino acids and your cells rebuilt it on their own, which is the same thing NAC gets you without paying for the assembly twice.

NAC is the amino acid cysteine with an acetyl group attached, which keeps it stable in a capsule and on the way through your gut. Very little of it shows up in your blood as NAC, 4 to 9 percent in the pharmacokinetic study that measured it, and that figure fools people who stop reading there, because the thing worth measuring is the glutathione downstream. In ten men taking NAC by mouth, glutathione in the muscle itself went up, and a 2024 meta-analysis of 20 exercise studies found the same rise across the pool. Your cells build it where and when they need it, and you never had to get the finished molecule past your digestion.

The Baylor study gave both precursors, and the same group ran the trial on it: 24 older adults, 12 on glycine plus NAC for 16 weeks and 12 on placebo, and the supplemented group corrected their glutathione deficiency and improved their oxidative stress markers, mitochondrial function, inflammation, insulin resistance, gait speed and strength. Then an independent group at Nestlé tried it in 114 healthy older adults for two weeks at 2.4 to 7.2 grams a day of the pair, and total glutathione did not rise overall. It rose in the people who started with high oxidative stress and low glutathione. That is the whole story of this molecule in one trial: it works on the man who is short and does little for the man who is not, and it is why I tell you below who this is for instead of telling you everyone needs it. Quench carries a gram of glycine per serving, which is a fraction of what those trials used, and I am telling you that so you do not read more into the stack than the data holds.

In June 2026 I put out a full breakdown on glutathione, and my position has not moved since: the compound your body makes naturally is the one that is hardest to supplement, oral glutathione is slow, the IV spike clears in minutes, and the injectable route has no published pharmacokinetics at all, so the precursor route is the one I use and the one I point my own guys to. The second half of that video is the part people skip, and I will put it here too. Use this to correct a shortage. Do not push your glutathione as high as you can just because you can, and keep it away from your training window, for reasons that are laid out in the trials below.
The largest trial on this molecule in men randomized 468 men with unexplained low semen quality to 26 weeks on 600 mg of NAC a day or on placebo, with two more arms testing 200 mcg of selenium alone and selenium alongside the NAC. Every semen parameter improved on NAC, the two together did better than either alone, and on the blood side testosterone and inhibin B came up while FSH came down, which is the pattern you see when the testicles are doing more of the work themselves. A second trial gave 50 infertile men the same 600 mg for three months and measured them against their own starting point, with no placebo arm, and found count and motility up and DNA fragmentation down. One capsule of this is 600 mg, and the Daily Multivitamin carries 120 mcg of selenium, which is why selenium is not in this capsule.

The immune data on NAC comes from a 1997 trial across 20 Italian centers: 262 people, three quarters of them over 65, on 600 mg twice a day or placebo for six months through the winter. The NAC group had fewer flu-like episodes and milder ones, spent fewer days in bed, and among the people whose blood showed they had caught the virus, 25 percent on NAC came down with symptoms against 79 percent on placebo. That trial used two of these a day where the label says one, and I am not going to pretend a 1997 trial in Italian retirees describes a 40-year-old who lifts. It is the best immune data this molecule has, and you should know exactly what it says and who it was in.
View Research: Long-Term NAC and Influenza-Like Episodes in 262 People (De Flora et al. 1997, European Respiratory Journal) →In eight endurance-trained men, NAC run in by IV during a ride to exhaustion pushed time to fatigue out by 26 percent and raised cysteine and glutathione inside the muscle, and that was an IV, not a capsule. By mouth, 12 recreationally trained men on six days of NAC held their repeated-sprint performance after muscle-damaging exercise while the placebo group fell off, and 17 semi-elite rugby players on 1 gram a day for six days had less soreness on days one through four and then more soreness on days five and six. The 2024 pool of 20 studies found soreness, lactate and IL-6 all lower after exercise on NAC, with no effect on creatine kinase.
Then the trial that decides how you use it. Ten men did 300 muscle-damaging contractions and took NAC by mouth for the next eight days. Glutathione in the muscle went up and the first two days felt better, less soreness and less strength loss. And the growth signaling that turns a hard session into a stronger muscle was blunted at day two and again at day eight, and only the placebo group fully recovered their performance. The free radicals from a hard session are part of the signal, and if you mop them all up around the session you mop up some of the adaptation with them. So the case is acute, a competition weekend or a tournament, and the case against is daily use stacked right on top of training. My rule from the June video stands: keep it three to four hours away from your session.

The second thing NAC does in the brain runs through glutamate signaling, and that is why psychiatrists have been running it for fifteen years. A 2021 meta-analysis of 16 trials in people being treated for substance dependence found cravings lower on NAC than on placebo, with withdrawal and low mood improved alongside. A 2016 meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled trials, 574 people with psychiatric diagnoses over 12 to 24 weeks, found depressive symptoms improved by a small to moderate margin and day-to-day function better. And the 2015 systematic review that pulled all of it together found the evidence favorable for some conditions and said plainly it does not hold up for gambling, nicotine or methamphetamine. Read those for what they are, trials in people under treatment, run as an add-on to that treatment. If that is your situation, this is a conversation with your doctor and I mean that. If you were wondering why a friend of yours takes this for the itch to reach for a drink, this is where that comes from.

Guys in my community swear by this before a night out, and the liver story behind it is true. The two trials that tested it found nothing. Forty-nine volunteers drank to a breath alcohol of 0.10, took 600 to 1,800 mg of NAC or placebo, and crossed over on a second night, and their hangover scores the next morning were no different. Forty students in a 2024 trial did a 90-minute drinking session on NAC or placebo and the hangover scale did not move either. So if you take it for that, you are running on the mechanism and your own experience, and I want you to know which one. And in 59 people with mild cognitive impairment going through cardiac rehab, 2,400 mg a day for 24 weeks added nothing to their thinking scores over the rehab alone, so do not buy this to feel sharper.

NAC has been a hospital drug since before most of the men reading this were born, and the 2021 review of it describes a well-established safety profile with toxicity uncommon and tied to the route and to high doses. In 13 trials pooling 4,155 people on NAC for months at 600 mg a day and above, adverse reactions at the 600 mg dose were no more common than on placebo. The complaint you will hear about is nausea on an empty stomach, which is why the label says with a meal. If you take prescription medication, the label says ask your doctor first, and so do I.

The trials keep saying the same thing: this works on the man who is short on glutathione. That is the man past 50, since the decline is measured and it is a raw material shortage. It is the man who drinks regularly or takes acetaminophen often, because both of those spend glutathione in the liver. It is the man carrying a chronic illness or a heavy oxidative load from a hard life, which is who the Nestlé trial found it working in. And it is the man whose semen analysis came back low, who has the largest trial on this molecule behind him at exactly one capsule a day.
If you are 30 with clean nutrition and no chronic exposures, you are probably not short, and the 114-person trial says you will not see much. There is a second reason I keep saying correct a shortage rather than push the level. In mice bred to develop lung tumors, NAC and vitamin E in the diet sped the tumors up and shortened survival, because the antioxidants muffled the oxidative signal that keeps a guard protein called p53 switched on. Those are mice, and mice engineered to grow cancer, and I am saying that plainly so you weigh it right. It is still the reason one capsule a day is a correction dose and not a challenge to see how high you can push a lab value. The same protection you give your healthy cells goes to anything else that might be growing, and you do not get to pick.

The table below is the label, line for line. Serving size is 1 capsule and there are 60 servings in the bottle.
| Ingredient | Per Serving |
|---|---|
| N-Acetyl L-Cysteine Daily Value not established | 600 mg |
60 capsules per bottle, 60 servings. One active ingredient. The magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide are flow agents so every capsule fills to the same weight, the rice flour is the fill, and none of it is hiding a dose. Selenium is left out on purpose, because the Daily Multivitamin already carries it and I am not going to charge you twice for the same mineral.
1 capsule daily with water, preferably with a meal, the way the label reads. One capsule is 600 mg, which is the once-a-day dose the 468-man trial ran for 26 weeks.
Take it with a meal, because the stomach complaint comes on an empty one. Keep it three to four hours clear of your training session, in either direction, because the eight-day trial showed NAC around the session blunting the signal you trained for.
Glutathione is not something you feel go up. The trials ran 12 to 26 weeks, so give it 12 weeks, and if you started it for a semen analysis, retest at the three-month mark the trials used instead of guessing.
The Daily Multivitamin carries the 120 mcg of selenium that did better alongside NAC in the 468-man trial, and 180 mg of vitamin C, which glutathione is the molecule that recharges. Quench carries a gram of glycine, the other precursor, at a fraction of the trial dose. Keep this away from Ignite by the same three to four hours, since Ignite is the training window.
Weeks 1 to 4: Nothing you can feel, and I would rather tell you that than invent something. What some men report early is thinner mucus in the morning, which lines up with the job this molecule does as a medicine, and it is a report and not a trial result on this bottle.
Weeks 4 to 12 and beyond: The things the trials measured live here: semen parameters at 12 to 26 weeks, fewer bad weeks through a winter, glutathione itself within two weeks in the people who were short. Most of what this does you will never feel, which is the honest description of an antioxidant precursor, so judge it by labs if you run them and by the specific reason you started it, and if you started it for no reason, you already know what I think.
